Hello Everyone! Thank you for checking out my page. This coming April I will be running the Boston Marathon with Team JAF. Running Boston has always been a dream of mine, but until now I've never felt ready for the challenge.
I am running Boston in honor of two very special people in my life, Kristen Savoy and Jeff Comeau.
Kristen, is a 15 year cancer survivor. She is the sister I never had. She was diagnosed in 2002 with Hodgkin's lymphoma. I missed the entire time she was going thru treatment but had I been around I would have been right there with her fighting the battle. She kicked cancer in March 2003 and has been living her best life cancer free for the past 15 years. Her carefree personality and love of life and her family is a true testament to the type of person she is. I've been lucky enough to cheer her on at her follow up appointments at Dana Farber and was there for the good news that she no longer needed the appointments. We've laughed together, we've cried together and she's been one of my biggest cheerleaders in every marathon I've run. It's always an adventure.
In June a good friend of mine, Jeff Comeau was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer. Jeff was a big supporter of my running marathons. We talked about when the day came for me to run Boston, how he would be there to support and cheer me on. With the news of his sickness I felt lost. Didn't know how to help him or his girlfriend Bev during this difficult time. I was there with a shoulder to lean on and an ear to listen but I wanted to do more.
Knowing I would need to run Boston thru a charity, I believed this was my opportunity to give something back. Not only for Kristen and Jeff but for others in my life who have fought their own battle with cancer.
While researching I found The Joe Andruzzi Foundation. Reading the stories about the families the foundation has helped really warmed my heart. I knew this was a team I wanted to be part of.
Every year I watch the runner's cross the finish line and say "I will run next year" . Well "next year" is finally here!
Please consider donating to this amazing cause in honor of Kristen, Jeff and all of those who are working together to fight cancer. Thank you so much!
