As a medical oncologist at a major cancer center, I hear the heartrending stories of my patients valiantly coping with the physical and emotional burden of their diagnosis. What they generally don't discuss is the financial hardship they are going through. Studies have shown that almost half the cancer survivors are in financial debt, and a substantial proportion fail to continue their treatment due to high cost.
The Joe Andruzzi Foundation (JAF) is committed to providing help and hope to cancer patients and their families by providing financial support when it is most needed. JAF's Financial Assistance Program helps alleviate financial stress through the distribution of grants and gift cards to assist with rent/mortgage payments, utilities, food, and other household expenses.
I am running the Boston Marathon in April 2020 to raise funds for JAF so it can continue with its noble mission. I am looking forward to your generous support.
