Please help Kate Sutphin raise money for the Joe Andruzzi Foundation !
Here's my story ... I live on a farm with my husband, our 4 children, 4 horses, 3 rescue dogs, 7 chickens and the newest addition of 2 parakeets... yes, pretty insane! Every day is filled with smiles, laughter, a lot of chaos, and even more farm work.
In 2012 my sister-in-law from Maryland called and asked if we knew of an inexpensive place to rent for six months for a single mother, her daughter and their dog. This dynamic mother-daughter duo, Amy and Brooke Mulford, were coming to Boston for a trial at Dana Farber. Brooke was 8 years old and had relapsed with Neuroblastoma, 4 years after her initial diagnosis. Of course, we knew a place where animals were welcome!
The day Brooke, Amy and their dog, Bailey, walked on the farm to meet us our lives changed for the better. Brooke’s positive energy, smile and passion for life made an immediate impact on our family. Her mom, Amy, is as kind and wonderful as they come! Amy, Brooke and Bailey lived with our family for the next 6 months. Our family got bigger that day! Brooke was fearless on her cancer journey and we cheered her and Amy on! They taught us about living with passion and they were always up for adventure and fun! Brooke and Amy are a constant inspiration in my life.
This past year, two women entered my life who I am in awe of and both are rocking their journey with cancer. They are running the Boston Marathon, and I’ve decided to join them. Inspired by these incredible people, JAF is a perfect match affording me the opportunity to contribute. The mission to help in the everyday life of cancer patients is awesome!
Cancer effects everyone ...Cancer has been part of my family’s life for decades, having lost grandparents, aunts, uncles and many dear friends to this disease. Several close friends and my aunt Jane are currently on their cancer journey. Running the Boston marathon for JAF is for them, and in particular for Brooke Mulford, who passed away in June of 2017.
Please consider helping me on my marathon journey to raise money for JAF!
The Joe Andruzzi Foundation is committed to providing help, hope, and a reason to smile, for New England cancer patients and their families by contributing financial support when it is needed most.
The Joe Andruzzi Foundation (JAF) was established to serve cancer patients of all ages throughout New England who experience the hidden costs of cancer as a result of a diagnosis. Cancer-related income loss or reduction combined with rising treatment costs often leads to financial stress as families struggle to cover their everyday expenses. JAF understands that crucial living expenses are not put on hold because of a diagnosis, and our Financial Assistance Program helps alleviate financial stress through the distribution of grants and gift cards to assist with rent/mortgage payments, utilities, food, and other household expenses.
