Thank you for choosing to support ScriptEd, a non-profit Joe has worked with for the past five years. ScriptEd’s mission is to equip students in under-resourced schools with the coding skills and professional experiences that together create access to careers in technology. ScriptEd students don't just learn to code – by the time they leave high school, they have real-life work experience and a network that sets them up for a career.
A student of mine told me, "If you walked up to me in the 8th grade and told me that in high school I'd be sitting down at Google learning how to code, I would have looked at you in confusion and walked away." She graduated last year, and plans to study computer science in college and become a software developer.
This year, ScriptEd serves 1,400 students in NYC and the San Francisco Bay Area. Over 80% identify as Black or Latino/Latina, and 86% qualify for free lunch. Two out of three ScriptEd alumni who are in college are pursuing a degree in computer science or a related field. With your support, ScriptEd can put even more students on the path to a career in tech.
