Hi everyone! As most people who know me are aware, I’ve been battling lupus for many years now, and I was officially diagnosed a little over 5 years ago.
The way that this disease has drastically changed my life was quite unimaginable! I went from a healthy twenty-something to a young mom now having issues with chronic fatigue, memory, joint swelling and pain, stomach issues, vasal nerve damage, vocal cords, thyroid issues, allergic reactions to random things, liver issues, skin rashes, sun sensitivity, hair loss and so much more. It took me a very long time to get into remission, but that doesn‘t mean my symptoms are gone. I fight my symptoms daily, they are just well managed for now.
Its almost impossible to understand what it’s like to have your body fighting itself every day, but that is literally what happens day in and day out. It’s a constant battle between what I want to do with my life and what my body will allow. I’ve learned how to navigate the balancing act, but others aren’t as lucky as I am. I have to work part time, but I can still work. Others can’t even get out of bed... I’ve been there... I have a strong support system to help me stay positive and fight without it even looking like I’m fighting.... others are alone in this battle. I’m managing my symptoms and maintaining a positive outlook through my support... others are truly suffering mentally. I want to raise money for all of them. For a cure to this horrible bully disease. No one deserves to have to fight their own body every day. Let’s go out and raise some money to support all the warriors out there!!!
Every dollar counts, so don't feel like you need to donate a lot to contribute. Any little bit helps us get to our goal. Just please share this with others or consider joining me on the walk or raise money as a part of our team: Joanna's Warriors
The walk will be at the Detroit Zoo on July 27th from 8am-10am
Go to:
https://milupus.org/event/detroit-zoo-walk-2/
to sign up to walk. It's $20 and every paid adult can bring a child for free. Any additional child is $5. You don't have to fundraise to walk, but you can if you wish by joining me on here and clicking join.
I will pick up our registration goodies for us all and we can meet at the front gates of the zoo that day. Don't worry about buying a shirt from them, because I will also be working on getting us team shirts made so if you decide to join my team please let me know who's coming and what shirt sizes you need.
Thank you for your support and God Bless you all!
