The family of Jo Read Trakimas is organizing this fundraiser with support from the Arts Council of Indianapolis to honor Jo’s legacy as a prolific and beloved arts educator, advocate, coach, mentor, participant, and volunteer throughout the central Indiana arts community.
Jo lost a hard-fought battle with cancer on April 17. While her family navigates the complexities of celebrating her life during the COVID-19 emergency, they invite friends, family, students, and colleagues from across the community and country to donate to this memorial fund in lieu of flowers.
100% of all contributions to the Jo Read Trakimas Legacy Arts Fund will go directly to central Indiana emerging artists and/or local arts organizations and theaters. The family will determine the exact focus of the fund in the coming weeks and will share their plans with contributors. The Arts Council of Indianapolis is an independent 501c3 nonprofit organization and is donating its support to coordinate this fund. All contributions to the Jo Read Trakimas Legacy Arts Fund are tax-deductible.
“Jo would love nothing more than to know her immense love for Indy’s artists and theater community can continue through this support. We deeply appreciate your consideration and contributions to this fund as a way to honor and extend her legacy. Thank you for your messages of love and support - it means the world.” -- Shelbi George, Jo’s daughter
