Dear Friends and Family,
I am sure you are getting a lot of requests for help from a lot of amazing groups in need. I have just one more request for a nonprofit that I've been close to along with my son for many years -- the Jacaranda Foundation which supports the Jacaranda primary and secondary school in Malawi.
Cases of Covid 19 are just beginning to rise in Malawi and across Africa. There are limited hospital beds, let alone ICU beds, ventilators, and testing availability. All the schools in Malawi have been shut down, including the Jacaranda School. The school is working to keep everyone safe and is distributing masks and soap, ensuring vulnerable families receive porridge flour and maize flour, implementing health education, and developing a remote education model for our students. However, the school needs the resources to be able to help these kids and their families and slow the spread of COVID in their community.
Please consider contributing whatever you can to this incredible school and help prevent the spread of COV-19 in this rural community of Malawi. When I say 5 dollars makes a difference, it can buy maize to feed a family of 4 for a week or soap for a month. Anything helps! And you are also welcome to join me in creating your own fundraiser if you are so inspired.
When this is all over, I would love to tell you more about their amazing founder my dear friend, CNN hero Marie da Silva, leadership, work that they do for so many kids and how you can get involved.
We have included a video that tells the amazing story of the Jacaranda School.
Thank you all in advance for doing what you can - I truly appreciate it!!!
Big virtual hugs-Nicole and Jaffe
