Jobs for West Virginia Graduates services 11 counties in West Virginia, including Randolph Technical Center (RTC) in Elkins, WV. At the RTC, a personal touch is used to inspire, particularly at risk students to stay in school, provide job services and train for careers. Many students at RTC are disadvantaged by family circumstances. Poverty, incarceration, drug abuse, divorce and other barriers can adversely effect families. Yet, many RTC students at RTC find the fortitude to overcome these barriers and manage to stay in school, obtain part time jobs and maintain high GPAs. For instance, there is a senior who is in an Advanced HealthCare class. She has 6 barriers in her life, including divorce parents and lives with a relative. Yet, she maintains a 3.7 GPA and is on plan to graduate in May and the goal of becoming a practical nurse. She is a definite success story.
