Jim Krause was a long-time resident of San Diego, an avid cyclist, and a member of the Point Loma Rotary Club. He died in 2012 after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer, leaving a legacy of service to the community. Pancreatic cancer is the 4th leading cause of cancer-related deaths in both men and women. The overall 5-year survival for patients diagnosed with this disease is only 5 percent. Donations will fund pancreatic cancer research that seeks to: enhance the scientific knowledge of how pancreatic cancer arises, progresses, and responds to treatment; introduce new technical capabilities to the operating room that will improve the outcome for patients undergoing tumor resection; improve drug delivery to tumors. Together, these strategies are designed to expand and improve the therapeutic options for treating patients with pancreatic cancer.
