This photo was taken last June. It is of Jack, Nate, and Meazi- three great friends since we first moved here 5 years ago. Meazi and her brother Melese are adopted from Ethiopia. Eight years ago, her parents formed a school in the village that the kids are from. On December 15th, Nate and I are participating in a spin-a-thon to raise money for the Kololo School!
When it first opened, the school had kids as old as fifteen starting kindergarten. Today the school serves 350 students in grades k-4. Looking over the hills of Kembata-Tembaro, children at Kololo have access to education and to a library. Last year we added a feeding program three times a week. For many of the children, this is the only food they will have all day. For each child to attend this school, the cost is approximately $160 per year. Our goal is to raise $50,000.
We hope that you will consider making a donation to this cause that is so close to our hearts: "Where you are born should not determine whether or not you get to go to school."
