I am excited and honored to be dancing to raise money for ChadTough this year. I have been married to Erik Bakich, Head Men’s Baseball Coach at UM, for 14 years and we have three children, Colt (10), Beau (7) and Tempie (5).
We had only been in Ann Arbor for one year when Chad was diagnosed. I didn’t know Tammi or Jason then, but I soon knew of them as Tammi went on a mission asking our community to pray for Chad. It’s hard to explain how we were heartbroken for a family and a child that we barely knew, but Chad was close in age to our 2 boys and we couldn’t imagine receiving a DIPG diagnosis. We all know someone who has battled cancer and most of us have lost someone we love to cancer…but losing an innocent child to a horrible disease is unfair.
We can never thank the Carr family enough for what they are doing to fight this disease. The money they have raised is funding research that is changing the way DIPG is treated. I have no doubt that Tammi and Jason will not stop until they find a cure. ChadTough is giving DIPG children new options and new clinical trials which ultimately gives them a chance to live a life they deserve.
