Do you want to be part of shaping the Jewish future?
Today, you can make a lasting impact on Jewish teens throughout North East Florida by participating in our end of the year fundraiser. Together we will raise $8,000 in just 72 hours. You donation will give an unaffiliated teen the opportunity to learn about Judaism at his JSU club, or experience her first shabbat, or attend a summer program in Israel that may very well change the course of his entire future.
By giving today you will connect Jewish teens with innovative, social programs that develop a strong positive Jewish identity. You'll inspire them through informal Jewish education, retreats and summer programs. Finally, you'll empower them through leadership development and guidance so they become passionately committed leaders of the Jewish community and instruments for positive change and renewal.
And you'll do all of that by giving to Jewish Student Union of Jacksonville today!
What is Jewish Student Union?
The mission of Jewish Student Union is to get more Jewish teens attending public and private non-Jewish schools to do something Jewish.
Since opening our first JSU Club in the Jacksonville area in Stanton College Preparatory School in 2016 we have since expanded to include 6 schools in the area. We now run Jewish Student Union clubs once or twice a month in Stanton College Preparatory School, Atlantic Coast High School, Creekside High School, The Bolles School, Mandarin High School and Nease High School. In the current school year we've reached over 125 Jewish teens and we expect to reach as many as 200 by the end of the year. By creating a fun atmosphere and presenting Judaism in a cool way on the school campus we are able to reach all types of Jewish teenagers.
We facilitate regular club meetings during the club period, before or after school, providing food for body and soul. Programs include speakers from a variety of Jewish organizations, discussions on timely topics of interest, and interactive Jewish themed activities. Kosher Pizza, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, holiday foods or other snacks are always provided.
In addition to our regular in-school meetings JSU sponsors various activities outside of school including Shabbat dinners, Israel Advocacy programming, weekend retreats, ski trips, community service projects, holiday parties, summer programs and more. We also run a monthly "JSU After Dark" program at the JCA open to all teens to attend a large club with Jewish teens from other schools and teens who don't yet have a JSU club in their school.
