Calling all Friends and Family! Please support me in the 24 Hours of Stratton and my goal to raise funds to help Vermont children in need.
The event raises money to provide Hunger, Health, Basic Necessities, and Education - so that VT children have the chance to survive, thrive, and succeed, in ways that are changing lives through the mission of the Stratton Foundation.
THANK YOU!
The Story: Imagine a child born into a situation that includes hunger, lack of cleanliness or sanitation and hygiene, without fitting clothing or shoes, in discomfort from a lack of health and dental care, poor language and literacy, mentally unready to cope, with high school absenteism and academic failure. Add the challenges of rural poverty where things are a great distance away and families have lack of resources, transportation or skills. Compound the issue with generational poverty where families focus on the day’s survival and children grow up thinking they are destined to be poor, with a sense of hopelessness and despair. Childhood poverty is one of Vermont's biggest problems. The Stratton Foundation cares for communities that witness 40-85% of their children living in economic hardship.
