Help me raise money for kids who have been seriously burned.
Camp I Am Me is a special and unforgettable one-week camp experience for children and teenagers who have experienced injuries from burns. The camp provides the setting for child burn survivors to share their common experiences while being able to play and not feel self-conscious about their scars. The benefits to the campers -- physical, psychological, and emotional -- have been enough to inspire a long list of eager volunteers and contributors.
This year camp runs from June 16-22. It costs approximately $2,500 per child to attend.
From April 28-May 31, 2019 I'm riding across the United States raising money for this effort. I'm riding over 3,300 miles in one month - ouch!
As a very young child I suffered 2nd & 3rd degree burns, spent weeks in the hospital and recovered with the help of skin graphs. I still have scars but I don't care about them. This camp helps children learn to look past that and have fun.
On my ride I will depart from Costa Mesa, CA and finish just north of Boston in Amesbury, MA. Riding across the country has been a dream since I was eighteen years old. This year I turn fifty and I'm making it happen in support of something bigger than me. I'm dedicating my ride to this wonderful camp for child burn survivors.
Join me to send at least one child to Camp this summer! Camp experiences can dramatically impact a child's life for the positive and this one has proven to make a lasting impact. Let's do it!
You can donate directly with the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance who runs the camp using the link below. Let them know it's for "Jen's Ride." Or you can donate directly from this crowdrise site. Every little bit helps.
Thank You for joining me in making a child's summer more fun!
