I got a last minute bib for the 2020 Boston Marathon in March. My intent was to run it for the Joseph Middlemiss Big Heart Foundation. I didn't share my plans with anyone because as soon as I found out COVID hit and everything shut down. Here we are in September and the Boston Marathon will be held Virtually. Have I trained for this? NOPE! I haven't run more than 9 miles in any given week since March. Am I still excited about the participating in the First EVER Virtual Boston Marathon. ABSOLUTELY. (the jacket this year is super cool...and you know you can't buy or wear one unless you earn it). And I still want to keep my commitment to JMBHF.
I met the Middemiss Family about 5 years ago and they have become an extended family to me. I ran the NY Marathon to support their efforts and also dedicated the African leg of the World Marathon Challenge to their Family. Josephy Middlemiss had cardiomyopathy and was a patient at Boston Children's Hospital. Joseph passed away in September of 2013 and his parents started the Joseph Middlemiss Big Heart Foundation. Jack Middlemiss was also born with cardiomyopathy but had a Heart Transplant in 2018 and is doing really well. And then there is Grace who is just a light of Sunshine!
The money raised will go to supporting the efforts of JMBHF and the things they do to support Boston Children's Hospital.
Your donation means more this year than another year. Please consider sponsoring my run!
