We started running...
Jennifer: I started running after getting a wild hair one day and decided to train for a half marathon. I had never ran in my life and wasn't even able to run a mile without struggling. But I pushed myself every day until the day of the race. Crossing that finish line, 13 miles later, felt so rewarding.
Allyce: I have never considered myself a runner and have often found it daunting, but I love a tough challenge which is why I have decided to take on the Boulder Traverse.
We're running because...
Jennifer: As an employee of MHP, I work with individuals who struggle with mental illness everyday. Witnessing the hardships, the pain, the suffering, and even the successes of those I work with, it feels incredibly important to be a voice and an advocate for such a vulnerable population of people. By raising money and awareness for suicide prevention, it is my hope that I/we can continue to bring information, resources, and education into the community so that we can continue to help those who need us most. Lastly, I am running to honor a very special individual who lost their life to suicide earlier this year.
Allyce: I am running for those individuals who are suffering from suicidal thoughts and facing a hard, uphill climb that often feels daunting and lonely. This run parallels this concept as it's not easy to face the upward battle, but with the support of my team and community, we will cross the finish line with the goal of raising money and awareness for those that need it most.
