I am excited to attend and support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Light the Night event with my family and friends on October 5th in Woodland Hills.
This cause is very personal to me. As you may or may not know, in 1996 I was diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkins Lymphoma. After 4 months of chemotherapy, multiple blood transfusions, 2 hospital stays and 1 month of radiation, I have now been in remission for 23 years. I am so lucky to have had my parents who took amazing care of me. My mom was a huge advocate for my care at Stanford University Hospital. After losing so many loved ones to cancer, I am now talking about it openly because I want to help find the cure for cancer.
Last spring I was part of the Man and Woman of the Year Campaign with LLS and raised over $11,000 in just 10 weeks. I was so honored to be a part of that campaign and it was an amazing experience. LLS is now a huge part of my life, and I will continue to assist in any way that I can, big or small to help them raise much needed funds for cancer research and resources for patients all over the world. I will also continue to spread awareness about blood cancer.
Cancer has affected me in so many ways. I have aunts, uncles and grandparents who have passed away from cancer. My cousin Debbie who is no longer with us had Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. In 2010 we sadly lost my Mother in Law to Stage 4 Colon Cancer, and almost two years ago my heart was devastatingly broken when I lost my father to Stage 4 Lung Cancer on Thanksgiving morning.
I am doing this fundraiser in honor of all Leukemia and Lymphoma patients all over the world, myself as a survivor, and in memory of all of my loved ones and all of the strong men and women who have fought this terrible disease. Cancer has had so much control over my life and my loved ones, that I want to do as much as possible to help others so that no one has to hear the words, “You have cancer” or “Your parent, friend or family member has cancer”.
I would be honored to receive your support in any amount large or small. Collectively we can make a difference.
I am also personally contributing $2 from each of the following red manicure sets below that are purchased during the month of September at my Color Street website www.shopjennchadwick.com
Thank you in advance for your support.
