Double Your Donation with Our Matching Gift Challenge!
Jelly Bean needs our help! Please support our campaign to fund the knee surgery that will give this sweet young pittie mix a life free of pain—and a real shot at adoption—and your donation dollars will be doubled thanks to a matching gift challenge from a generous FOAS donor!
When Jelly Bean arrived at the shelter, she was fearful and shut down—in fact, she had to be carried out of her kennel by her foster mom, because she was too scared to walk. Upon getting to her foster home, she almost instantly brightened up and even began romping around. That’s when her foster mom noticed Jelly Bean had a limp that wasn’t spotted at the shelter, when Jelly Bean had been too frightened to walk.
Veterinarians let us know that, while Jelly Bean loves working on her “agility” and playing with her canine buddies, she was nonetheless in near constant pain due to ruptures in a ligament in her leg, and her condition would not get better on its own. According to her vet’s report: “The abnormal conformation will lead to arthritis and can lead to catastrophic injury in the future.” A lifetime on painkillers, and likely deterioration of her leg, was not an option. Amputation of her leg would be the least expensive surgical solution.
However, because Jelly Bean is young and vibrant, FOAS is raising money to pay for a more expensive TPLO surgery (similar to ACL surgery on a human knee). And thanks to the generosity of FOAS donors like you—and an anonymous FOAS donor who will match the first $5000 we raise, dollar for dollar—we know we can make the difference for Jelly Bean!
That’s why when you donate today, your gift will be doubled! $10,000 will fund Jelly Bean’s surgery and recovery expenses, and help her live life to the fullest, without pain, after she recovers. This surgery gives her the best chance at finding a forever family, which, sadly, would otherwise be a long shot for a pit bull mix in need of expensive medical care.
