The Jeffrey Capaccio Youth Mental Health Research Fund
By Susan Stilwell, Chairman, AIM Youth Mental Health
It is not everyday that someone comes along who makes everyone around him feel special. This was Jeff Capaccio. I first met Jeff at Santa Clara Law School in 1982. His parties were infamous, introducing his friends to the “real” Italian food, not the store-bought bottled pasta sauces, but the food that took days to prepare. I soon realized that I was not Jeff’s closest friend, but one of many. His passion, his zest for life, his taste for the fine food and drink and everything Italian – all made for someone whom everyone was drawn to.
His passion carried over to his determination to help youth struggling with their mental health. Jeff joined the AIM Youth Mental Health Board several years ago and immediately started to recruit his friends to get involved. We are proud to honor Jeff in perpetuity with a Fund in his name.
“Jeff made things happen for so many people. He saw opportunities and connected us to one another, empowering us to discover in our emerging relationships the possibilities that he saw,” reflects Lou Pambianco, CEO of Startup Sandbox and fellow AIM Board member. “Each time our lives were enriched, and the world became a little better place.”
"Jeff was a super connector, a skilled lawyer, and a passionate Italian American. We met each other as undergrads at Santa Clara and remained fast friends ever since," says Janet Napolitano, head of Homeland Security in the Obama administration and later president of the University of California. "He had many gifts, which in turn he shared with many people. His untimely death leaves a large hole, but his legacy will live on through initiatives like the Capaccio Fund to support youth mental health research. The Fund is a fitting reminder of a life well lived."
Bill Duffy, Chairman and CEO of BDA Sports Management and Fellow AIM Board member remembers, “My dear friend Jeff Capaccio, friends for 40 years. Jeff has introduced me to more people than anyone I’ve ever met in my life. His sole motivation was to help and support. A totally selfless spirit! I will miss him dearly and will always hold him close to my heart. Ciao my dear friend! “❤️
