Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County's 4-H Youth Development program is unable to offer the annual Jefferson County 4-H Fair in 2020 due to the Covid-19 epidemic. We did not feel we could ensure the safety of our youth and families. As such, approximately 100+ youth who annually participate in the 4-H Fair and work on animal and non-animal projects starting in October 2019 are not able to show their projects in-person. Also, without an in-person fair zero funds are generated to purchase awards for the youth on projects they have worked on steadily for approximately 9 months. We have decided that we want the youth in our community to be provided with a summer opportunity, to experience as much normalcy as we can provide to them, and receive recognition for their hard work - so we are turning this up side down and offering the First Ever Jefferson County 4-H Virtual Fair. Youth have dedicated thousands of hours preparing their animals and their non-animal exhibits. Please consider supporting their efforts during this difficult time . Animal entries vary significantly - goats, sheep, alpacas, llamas, beef cattle, dairy cattle, poultry, dogs, horses and more. Non-animal entries, as well vary hugely from woodworking, nutrition, photography, textiles, plants, arts and crafts, paintings and so much more. There are youth who enter in both animal and non-animal and up to 40 entries.
