Friends! I’ll be running in the Monterey Half Marathon on November 10th on behalf of Every Mother Counts, an organization that is dedicated to providing maternal healthcare to women in need across the globe.
Why I am running:
It wasn’t until I experienced my own complication during pregnancy, that I started to learn how common they were. While I was fortunate to receive care at one of the top hospitals in the country, and ultimately gave birth to a healthy baby girl, this is sadly not the circumstance for many women.
In addition, during my pregnancy journey, I was shocked to learn that one woman dies every two minutes bringing life into the world. And that even here in the United States, we are the only developed country whose maternal mortality rate is consistently rising. Fortunately, most maternal deaths are preventable with proper education and care. That’s why supporting organizations like this make such a difference!
Knowing I could make the difference for a mom to receive the care she needs is more than enough motivation to run this race! I believe that this cause resonates with everyone- afterall, we are all here today because of our mothers and the care they received! For more information, please visit everymothercounts.org
I would be immensely grateful to anyone who can donate or spread the word! The best part about crowd funding is that small amounts add up fast, so even $1 helps! (Please note, donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law)
