This past fall, I had the privilege to be in Israel on an FIDF mission. On October 27th, I had an even greater privilege to spend an evening with Gita Cycowicz, listening to her story of her time during the Holocaust. It was about halfway through the evening, when several members of the group started receiving texts about the horrific attack at the synagogue in Pittsburgh. Here we were in Israel in 2018, recounting the horrible times of anti semitism during WWII and now again happening at home. It deeply saddens me that we are still dealing with this in America today. This is just another reason why I am running for Holocaust survivors this January.
The Blue Card’s mission is to aid Holocaust Survivors by providing both long-term ongoing support and emergency grants for basic human needs in the most caring way. Financial support is given either directly to the client or through agencies such as JCS. Grants are provided for food, health care, psychotherapy, prescription drugs, personal emergency response system, housing, transportation and various one-time emergencies.
Since 2011, The JCS Alliance Team Blue Card has been an Official Charity Partner of the Miami Marathon raising more than $120,000 dollars for needy Holocaust Survivors.
