Jay Holly has spent much of the last 3 years building a community that focuses on combat veterans but more than that, a support network that reaches past those serving in the military. He has dedicated his time to helping those around him, putting others first, and creating a place where everyone is welcome; a family. He can be quoted as saying, 'support is a verb' because it's what you do... the things you show up for... that make a difference.
Jay was diagnosed this past September with stage III colon cancer and has been following an aggressive treatment program since. The past few months have been tough, as treatment has limited his ability to work and participate in every day activities. Not being active - that isn't Jay. If you know him, you know how difficult this has been.
Maybe you follow him on Facebook and have seen his posts? As friends and family, it has been hard to find a way to show our appreciation for everything he has done and to support him and his family, while he has been going through this.
Jay’s friends and family, including Monroe County Scorpions MC, are organizing a benefit to assist with the cost of medical care. Something Jay and his family were not receptive of initially.
In addition, a portion of the proceeds will also go to St Joseph Mercy Cancer Center. Ya' know why - Jay wouldn’t have this done any other way.
Jay is an extremely proud father, and dedicated to his family and friends. He has helped to create an organization that gives back to our community every day. All are invited to come and support Jay, his family, and the program at St. Joseph. There will be live music, food, and maybe a couple of surprises - you know how Jay would want this done. After all, Cancer isn’t fought alone. It is a family affair. It is something that has touched all of us; just as Jay has. Whether through friendship, leadership, brotherhood or family – Jay is a one-of-a-kind person.
Like Jay says - Keep Mov'n - See you there.
For those that are not able to attend the benefit we have created this GoFundMe campaign so that you are still able to participate by way of donation. We will miss seeing you at the event but greatly appreciate your support.
