My name is Jasmine and I have thyroid disease.
In the spirit of thyroid awareness month I wanted to bring awareness on the effects of this disease and why its important to"CHECK YOUR NECK"
Your thyroid is a small butterfly-shaped gland found at the base of your neck, just below your Adam's apple. This gland makes thyroid hormone that travels in your blood to all parts of your body. The thyroid hormone controls your body's metabolism in many ways, including how fast you burn calories and how fast your heart beats.
According to Everyday Health, Untreated thyroid issues can contribute to mental decline, heart disease, decreased lung function, and abnormal enlargement of the thyroid gland(also known as goiter). ... Infection or another illness.
Even with a replacement hormone that I have to take everyday for the rest of my life. My thyroid levels are still not where they should be. The levels are either a little low or a little high, but never balanced.
So when it comes to thyroid disease. I believe there is still so much that is unknown and Adults as well as children can suffer from this!
I urge you today to Donate to this cause so more resarch is developed, more knowledge about this disease is spread, and encouragement of more people to "CHECK THEIR NECKS" ....after all it could be LIFE SAVING!
