Did you know that cancer is the leading cause of death in Canada and is responsible for 30% of all deaths? Did you also know that 1 in 2 people in our province will face cancer in their lifetime? These stats are scary, but there are wonderful organizations such as BC Cancer Foundation igniting progress to break down cancer, piece by piece, in the labs and clinics and working to increase health and longevitity for years to come.
Just over a year ago I lost my uncle to cancer. When I was 6 I lost my grandpa to cancer. Two incredibly special people in my life were taken far too soon by this disease as have so many others across the province.
So, with a total of 6 weeks of training, I've committed myself to running the BMO half marathon in hopes to raise money for cancer research for the BC Cancer Foundation so that we can continue to make huge leaps in science, technology and care to make a difference for those facing the disease and for future prevention.
Please help me in giving back to an organization that has spent years and will continue to spend years working to find a cure and providing support to patients and families in hopes that we one day can live in a cancer-free world.
Any and all support is greatly appreciated :) Thank you!
