As most of you know, Melanoma Skin Cancer has directly impacted my family and forever changed our lives. It took the life of my 35 year old brother, Jarod McBride, who was a husband, loving father to two precious girls, son, baseball coach and friend to so many. Melanoma is a silent killer. We had no idea Jarod had Melanoma until it had already attacked his organs and had progressed so quickly that it took his life only days after diagnosis.
Growing up Jarod spent the majority of his life on the ball field, in the sun. Sure, he would wear sunscreen a lot of the time, but had he known then, what we know now, he would have never gone without it.
So in an effort to bring awareness and make an Impact in Jarod’s memory, his wife, Hollie, has met with board members of LPR (Livingston Parks & Recreation) and has received their approval to put sunscreen dispensers throughout the baseball park. In his last few years Jarod coached baseball at LPR, his girls now play t-ball there.
Our goal is to raise money to place sunscreen dispensers throughout the parks and to sustain this initiative in honor of Jarod for years to come. Our hope is to gain enough support to place additional dispensers across the parish. Raising awareness to block the sun not the fun!
We cannot express how much we appreciate each of you in helping us in this effort.
Businesses can donate to support the cause, and place their logos on the dispensers to show their support. Logos can be emailed to mindy.sholty@gmail.com
Thank you for keeping Jarod’s legacy.
