The moment I heard about Amirah I knew I wanted to be a part of the mission and vision of this organization. Sexual abuse is part of my story as a child. Although I never experienced the traumas of being sex trafficked, I imagined my experience multiplied in ways unimaginable. I remember when I heard about one of my abusers finally being caught after he was seen on more than one occassion randomly picking up young girls; the relief I felt. But the scars I had to heal from. Providing a safe place is one step, helping to heal the physical another, and then there is the process of inner healing; a place in which many victims stay trapped. CT is opening their first safe home for women who have escaped their oppressors, have gotten that first breath of relief but need a place to recover and heal, Amirah is that place. I am passionate about seeing women set free. So I decided to be a part of "Move for Amirah". I am hoping to raise at least $100 but would love to raise more. Aside from my usual daily fitness routine, I am going to comitt to a 5 mile walk and am asking if you would support me and Amirah. 10 people, at $10 each would meet my goal. Anything above that would be amazing! The mission runs from July 12th to the 18th. Anyone is welcome to join me, but you don't have to to donate. But if you would like, I am willing to do this multiple times during that week. If I'm alone than I'll most likely run. Let's make this safe home a reality!
