I'm running my first half marathon on February 4th to raise money for the Cornelia Connelly Center, a middle school in the East Village dedicated to championing girls at risk, empowering them to realize their full potential from middle school through college and beyond.
After first learning about CCC by participating in their mentorship program in 2015 and meeting my incredible mentee Maggie, I joined their Junior Advisory Board and have seen firsthand the huge difference the school makes in each student's life and each girl's amazing accomplishments.
CCC students have an average family income of less than $30,000 a year. The Center specifically seeks out students who are struggling in their public schools; with CCC's support, 65 percent of these girls earn a college degree, compared to only 8 percent of low-income students nationwide.
Thanks so much for reading and contributing! Every dollar counts! Click here to visit the Cornelia Connelly Center's website to learn more about their mission.
