Hey! I am running my first Boston Marathon next year. I've been running for several years now and ran my first marathon last year. After that, I wondered if running Boston was a possibility and a part of me can't believe I'm actually doing this.
The Boston Marathon has always been special to locals, but became even more so after the bombing in 2013. We all have a story of a loved one who was there and witnessed the events or got injured. The vulnerability and loss we all felt was nothing compared to the personal tragedy so many dealt with and since then we have become much more aware of prosthetics and the challenges faced by amputees.
That experience has led me to a charity called 50 Legs whose mission it is to support amputees and their families with the best possible experience getting back on their feet. 50 Legs supports their patients throughout the proccess of consultation, proesthetic fitting, and rehab. Their clients include bombing victims, veterans, and ordinary folks including chidren. Please take a look at the brief video attached to this page to learn more about 50 Legs and their patient stories which are so sad yet so inspiring.
My goal is to raise $10,000 to support this amazing charity and their patients. I know you are always being asked for financial support for a number of equally worthy causes, but hope you will consider supporting me and 50 Legs.
