In Memory of Henry’s Footprints:
On November 4th, 2018, our team of 17 will be running the NYC marathon in honor of Henry Sethness and the many footprints he left on each of us during his life. Our team includes Henry's three daughters, Ellie, Charlotte and Ashley, as well as 15 others who are good friends of the Sethness family. This is our team's joint fundraising page (full team roster listed above).
Henry was a dedicated runner, clocking thousands of miles on his daily runs over the years in different cities, states, and countries around the world. In 1986, he ran the Marathon (#3792 in the above photo) in his hometown of Chicago, IL. More importantly, though, were the footprints he imprinted in all of our lives. As a father, he raised his three daughters to have good character and strong values. To friends, he was a kind and thoughtful host and mentor, who always went out of his way to make everyone feel like they were a part of the family. Henry approached every challenge that life threw at him, in particular his battle with cancer, without fear and with a sense of humor, and we are bringing that same attitude to this race. We are proud to support this important cause in Henry's honor by going on a good (long!) run with great friends and having some fun along the way -- because just like Henry believed, nothing beats fun!
JAMES BLAKE FOUNDATION INC:
James’ father, Thomas Blake Sr., lost his battle with gastric cancer in 2004. Since 2008, the James Blake Foundation has supported the efforts of the Thomas Blake Sr. Memorial Research Fund, which was launched in memory of James’s father and is dedicated to the early detection of cancers commonly discovered in later stages.
On November 4th, 2018, the James Blake Foundation will be an official partner of the TCS New York City Marathon andfield a team of 25 runners to benefit early detection cancer research for the Thomas Blake Sr. Research Fund at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
