Note from Mrs. Higgins( Jack's Mom):
Jack Higgins was diagnosed with leukemia 12 days after turning 5. In 2015, this boy's life was turned upside down. His new normal consisted of frequent chemo treatments and trips to the hospital. This was difficult at first, but the amazing doctors and staff helped every step of the way. Then in July 2016 was Jack's first experience with Fire Up a Cure. He was teamed up with the most amazing group of fire fighters from Midlothian, men who took Jack in as one of their own. Jack is now in his 3rd year as a fire up a cure coach, and his 3rd (AND FINAL) year of treatment. Thank you to everyone who has supported us through this journey.
This year the event is held on July 21st, 2018 St. Xavier University ! Every year we compete head-to-head in a series of challenges against other fire department teams in the name of pediatric cancer research. We team together with a pediatric cancer patient to have as our honorary coach, Jack. Challenges include tug-of-war, inflatable jousting, fire truck pull, obstacle course and dodgeball! Fire Up A Cure also features fun activities for the whole family.
With the help of Jack's high spirit we have raised over $15,000 to help support this amazing foundation in just 2 years!
