As a member of the board of the charity, AGE Africa, I realize how fortunate I am to be an American woman who savored an excellent education, a marvelous career, and boundless opportunities … not to mention a smart, kind, and supportive husband. Sadly, life is not kind to Malawian girls … barely 6% graduate from high school and a mere 1% have an opportunity for higher education. Over 47% marry and have children before age 18. Many endure domestic violence. And there is hope, here is a two-minute video of the impact AGE Africa is making in the lives of girls in Malawi.
I joined the board of AGE Africa to support the delivery of life-changing high school scholarships, life-skills training, and opportunities for more girls to achieve educational and economic equality. To mark my birthday on April 14, I am asking you to help me raise money so that AGE Africa can enable, inform and empower more Malawian girls and give them a better chance at life. The girls and I will appreciate your donations.
