It is truly an honor and privilege to use my participation in this year's IRONMAN Arizona to help raise funds for the Navy SEAL Foundation. As a strong supporter of our nation's military I am forever thankful for the men and women who have served and sacrificed on our behalf. The elite Navy SEAL teams and Special Operations Forces are the ones who are tasked with the 'impossible' missions. Theirs is a higher calling and one that most of us cannot even imagine. Their stories of bravery, heroism and love of country are what define the greatness of America. To quote the Navy SEAL Foundation's mission statement, 'Never before has so much been asked of so few, for so many, for so long.' I am truly inspired by these individuals and believe that we owe them not only our thanks but our unwavering support. I am thrilled to use my passion for triathlon and IRONMAN to help raise support for the Navy SEAL Foundation. By supporting this effort, IRONMAN Arizona becomes more than just a 'race'. All funds go directly to help Naval Special Warfare members and their families with the myriad of challenges they face. Thank you so very much for your support.
Race Details:
IRONMAN Arizona takes place on Sunday, November 18th in Tempe, Arizona. It is a full-length triathlon (140.6 miles) consisting of:
2.4 mile swim
112 mile bike
26.2 mile run
At 47 years old, this will be my second full IRONMAN triathlon. I've been racing in triathlons for about four years and enjoy the sense of athletic community the sport provides. I've taken part in many other IRONMAN 70.3 and olympic length triathlons as well. My training for this specific event began in July, six days a week, with a lot of 'two-a-days'. I am anxiously looking forward to race day, and better yet, crossing the finish line!
