April 2007. My first Ironman in Tempe Arizona and the first time I raised money for DCH. 11 years and 1546.6 Ironman miles later, I will be competing in my 12th Ironman at Ironman Santa Rosa. #12 has been a long time goal, as it allows me to enter the Legacy Lottery in hopes of getting a spot at the Ironman World Championships.
For me, participating in a yearly Ironman and raising money for Doernbecher have been an incredible privilege. One can’t happen without the other, even if I only raise a few hundred dollars. Fortunately, my generous family and friends have far exceeded my expectations over the years, helping me raise thousands over the years to benefit the kids at Doernbecher.
I know it’s only been 6 months since my last race (with a 100k in between), but I’m hoping you will consider making a donation of any size to benefit the Pediatric Pain Management Program at DCH. My endurance focus has become ultramarathons, so I may be retiring from Ironman (but not triathlon) soon. However, I remain committed to getting a spot in Kona in the next year or two, and hopefully together we can do something special for Doernbecher at that time.
Thanks again for your support for my last 11, and I hope you’ll support me for #12 (and Kona?) as well. Just click on the link to the right to make a donation, or you are welcome to send a check made out to the Doernbecher Foundation to me directly.
