IRONMAN with compassion
I have been training for, and will be competing in an Ironman triathlon on September 30th. This race involves swimming 2.4 miles, biking 116 miles and running 26.2 miles. To put this in perspective, the combined distance of 144.6 miles is equivalent to racing from Stamford Ct. to Central Park NY and back... 3 times! I am aiming to complete the race in the 11-12 hour range.
I knew going into this it would mean spending long hours of training - up to 20 hours/week for 30 weeks. I didn’t want this to be an entirely selfish effort so I am using it as an opportunity to fund raise for a special organization.
The Saint Gianna Pregnancy Resource Center is an organization that is a “light in the darkness” for women with unplanned pregnancies who choose to have their babies, but lack the material and spiritual means to do so. They offer assistance in obtaining financial aid, pre-natal care, baby supplies, adoption information, a hotline, etc. The help these mothers need can only be given through the kindness of others. 100% of the money donated goes directly to the mothers and babies in need.
