Join me in my efforts to help knock Cancer out of the park!
In July 2016, Ethan took a soccer ball to his eye which then turned into a black eye. After 2 weeks of the black getting worse vs. better we brought Ethan to a specialist who ordered an emergency CT. Ethan was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, (a soft tissue cancer) of the optical orbit. He began 22 weeks of chemotherapy right away and did 28 rounds of Proton Radiation. During one of the very first hospital stays, when spirits were extremely low and a smile hadn't been seen in nearly a month, we had a knock at the door and on the other side was Anthony Rizzo, Mrs. Rizzo & Abby (ARFF's amazing Executive Director). Anthony came and sat with Ethan and that began a wonderful relationship that gave us all smiles and supported us throughout this never ending journey.
Ethan completed his first chemo & radiation protocol in December 2016. In March 2017 after observing signs of swelling (tumor growth) we learned he relapsed & the battle began again. During that time we made the decision to travel to NYC for second opinions and ultimately made the decision to go to Sloan Kettering for the surgery and subsequent radiation that we hope will save Ethan‘s life. The Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation has supported us every step of the way. Their financial support made the nearly month long stay in NYC possible , and their emotional support had us having fun and smiling during the times we were not in the hospital.
This is our 4th year raising money for the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation Walkoff.
In 2016 we raised just over $50,000, in 2017 we raised just over $60,000 and in 2018 we raised over $68,000! This year we hope to raise as much as we possibly can. Every year we surpass our goal but everyone's generosity continues to amaze us! Thank you for all of your support. Please come and walk with us this year & share with your friends to donate!
