Run for Refugees is a campaign to combine a love of running (or any physical challenge!) with helping newly arrived refugee families! The funds raised will support critical services at the IRC Seattle ensuring families have the support they need to thrive in their new homes. The IRC helps in a wide variety of ways including setting up apartment homes for new arrivals, providing after-school and summer tutoring, providing case management to help families navigate new systems and communities, help finding employment, providing opportunities for nutritious food in 4 community gardens, helping with citizenship paperwork, and so much more.
If you have a running club or group that wants to set up a page to team fundraise for this campaign, fantastic! If you're in the Seattle area, email Seattle@Rescue.org if you want more information on connecting to other runners also supporting IRC.
The initial group of IRC staff and supporters ran the 5k and half marathon June 9-10, 2018 in the Seattle Rock'n'Roll Race series. We're starting to hear from supporters interested in spring 2019 races. Feel free to set up a page as a fundraiser and let us know which event you're joining. Join us or recruit others to participate in another event! #Run4Refugees
