VIRTUAL Eastern Iowa Learn & Move for PD

Join us to bring more awareness to Parkinson's Disease in Eastern Iowa and support the Parkinson's community.

Our Community Walk has changed this year due to the "double whammy" of the pandemic and the derecho that hit Eastern Iowa on August 10th.

This year, we are partnering with the Parkinson's Foundation  for a VIRTUAL Parkinson's Awareness Weekend. We will be working our brains and bodies as you will have the opportunity to LEARN on Friday, December 4th at 12pm. On Saturday, December 5th you have the opportunity to MOVE with  a live, virtual activity session at 10:30am.

Friday, December 4th at 12pm via Zoom

LEARN: Nutrition & Parkinson's Disease

"A balanced diet is a foundation of good health. For people with Parkinson’s disease, a balanced diet is even more important. In Parkinson’s, there are some foods that may help to ease symptoms and support brain health, while others can affect the way medications work. The informed choice of diet can help people to live better with the disease."

Please join us for a VIRTUAL charity community event to increase awareness of Parkinson’s disease, support our local Parkinson’s community. and raise money for the Parkinson’s Foundation to fund research projects nationwide.

Our goal is to continue to assist the families in Eastern Iowa who have been impacted by the devastating effect of PD.  Like many others, we’ve had to pivot in different ways over the last several months due to the global pandemic. Our largest fundraising event, the Eastern Iowa Parkinson's Golf Classic, has been cancelled. Since we’ve made the official decision to cancel this year’s event to keep participants and volunteers safe, we will shift our focus to finding creative ways to fundraise given the limitations COVID-19 is presenting us with. The pandemic may have paused many things. However, the need continues for people with Parkinson's Disease and their families. All assistance is focused on the patient and caregiver with monthly support groups featuring educational forums and the availability of free exercise programs specifically designed for those living with PD.

This year, we are hosting a virtual Parkinson's Awareness weekend with the opportunity to work our BRAINS and BODIES!  There is no registration fee. We are asking for donations with proceeds shared between the local Cedar Rapids Metro Parkinson's Association and the Parkinson's Foundation for national research.

Simply donate, then join us for a virtual learning event on Friday, December 4th at 12pm AND/OR a  virtual group exercise class on Saturday, December 5th at 10:30am.

We thank everyone for their involvement and support as we gather together as a community, seeking to provide hope, encouragement and support for others.
