The International Medical Corps provides emergency relief to those who are affected by conflict, disaster, outbreak of diseases, and more. Despite the location and present conditions of areas in peril, the International Medical Corps will be there to train the many who are impacted to become first responders and give them the means to rebuild, recover, and gain the resources in order to revert to self-reliance.
What really inspired me to conduct this fundraiser was the story of nine-month old Tut Gany Yoak from South Sudan, a country that experiences continuous war and chaos. Moreover, Tut was also subject to malnutrition, consistent fevers, and the impending effects of COVID-19. With the help of International Medical Corps, Tut was put into a targeted supplementary feeding program, and his mother was referred to a support group for mothers, where she learned about nutrition, hygiene, complementary feeding, and more. In three months, Tut had fully recovered. When he was discharged, his mother received four weeks of RUSF to help ensure that Tut’s health remains strong. Like many children in areas requiring emergency relief, Tut almost died due to preventable causes. By donating even just a dollar, you can aid individuals in similar or in even worse situations by helping them receive emergency relief.
