Listen. One is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports individuals who need to talk to somebody. We are not licensed therapists. What sets our service apart from teletherapy and crisis chat lines is that we simply want to be a friend that is open to chat with you about anything – relationships, religion, jobs, lifestyle changes, disabilities, illnesses, and anything else that is going on in your life. While we do not give professional advice, we are open-minded, we listen carefully, and we love you.
Through our non-judgmental chatting service, we have had the privilege of connecting with so many people who are lonely, need a friend, want to vent about their lives, and more. This helps our Sharer, the person that messages us, feel less alone. It also helps our Listeners, the volunteers chatting with you, share their life experience to provide comfort in your situation. We have several other Communities that we want to support, as they often need a Listener more than the average person. One of those communities is the International College Student Community.
We have created specific campaigns for each of these Communities in an effort to encourage donations toward a cause that you may feel more compelled to help. We all need help sometimes, and we want you to know that 97% of your contribution will go toward the Community of your choice, and help Listen. One focus more on providing assistance to that specific cause. 3% will go toward GoFundMe processing fees.
Navigating life in a new country can be difficult and doing that alone can seem even more scary. If you combine cultural differences to get used to and college classes, it’s easy to start feeling stressed out, self-conscious, or lonely. We want you to know that you are not alone here. At Listen One, our goal is ensuring that our Sharers know that they have a community of Listeners to connect with if they need somebody to talk to. We are here to support you and want to hear about your challenges, accomplishments, and any other story you want to tell us. We want to encourage our Sharers to be open about their struggles and offer a non-judgmental environment for them to receive support.
