Our Grandmother, Smt Asha Bathla passed away recently. She fought long and hard against her illnesses and it gives us some solace in knowing that she is now at peace.
She was a strong and caring woman who supported everyone around her and helped bring joy and happiness to many. She leaves behind examples and memories of selflessness that continue to inspire all of us, and we felt it would be best to honor her memory by continuing her legacy of helping others by supporting the work of Pratham USA.
Pratham provides access to secondary education for female school dropouts (Most of them are forced to drop out due to family pressure) over the age of 14 in underserved communities in India. Their alternative education model engages these students in a safe, supportive environment and helps them obtain their diploma, improving their prospects for higher education and employment. Since 2011, their Second Chance program has impacted the lives of more than 30,000 girls and women.
$500 enrolls one student in Pratham’s 12-month program to complete her secondary school education and empower her to make better choices for herself and her family.
We hope that you will join us in honoring the memory of our Grandmother.
