Neil G. Boris, a resident of Philadelphia, PA, sadly, passed away on the first day of Rosh Hashonah, 5781 (2020) at age 36. He was beloved for his kindness, sense of humor, and determination, and acts of heroism toward friends and strangers.
Neil was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma just as he was about to begin college, in 2002, and he went forward with his dreams and attended his first year of college in Ohio while undergoing high dose radiation therapy. Sadly, the cancer meanwhile caused him so much pain that at the age of 19 he was prescribed heavy opiates, which he became addicted to and which ultimately caused his tragic death.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is the global leader in the fight against blood cancer and is dedicated to funding research, finding cures and ensuring access to treatments for patients.
We note this on the occasion of the guilty plea to Federal charges on the part of Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family for having caused the opioid epidemic that resulted in untold deaths.
We, Neil's forever Aunt Jane and Uncle Phil, ask that you have rachmanas, mercy, on Neil's beautiful soul, which expressed its love and beauty and strength for so many years, and please donate in his memory to helpso many others.
