A few weeks ago, we lost a member of our lab family. Our coworker Liz passed away suddenly at the age of 37. She had been a member of the VA laboratory staff for nine years.
Liz was a good coworker. She was always willing to help when asked and could make you smile even when it was busy. She was quick with witty replies and made us laugh with her sometimes obscure movie and music references. The VA lab will miss Liz dearly.
We have organized this fundraiser to honor her memory and to do some good in this crazy world today. Liz and her family supported and would often attend the Coaches vs. Cancer fundraiser gala. Coaches vs. Cancer is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. This initiative leverages the personal experiences, community leadership, and professional excellence of coaches and communities nationwide to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living through year-round awareness efforts, fundraising activities, and advocacy programs. Since 1993, Coaches vs. Cancer programs have raised over $115 million for the American Cancer Society. Over the past twelve years, Coaches vs. Cancer Wisconsin has raised more than $7.7 million and remains the largest Coaches vs. Cancer program in the country!
In honor of Liz, we would love to raise money to support this cause that Liz loved. Please spread the word and donate if you can!
