My Dad passed away from a Butterfly Glioma Brain Tumor in 2011. He was a very energetic, happy, dramatic, artistic man who I miss dearly. I am happy to have the good memories of him and some of his beautiful paintings that he painted over the years. Every year since my dad died I have tried to do something in his memory. I discovered the Celebrate Life Half Marathon and it has been a perfect way for me to remember him and others close to us who have passed away. My Dad's anniversary is March 6th and the marathon is always around this date. The money raised from the marathon goes to those in need of help during their illness. It gives me a good feeling to raise money for those that may be struggling to pay their medical bills or struggling with money to simply pay for a cab to the doctors office. I feel that my dad would be proud of the fundraising that my husband and I have raised over the last couple of years and it would make him smile. We always buy a sign at the "Motivational mile" in the marathon that reads "In memory of my dad Lewis Watson, and unfortunately 2 years ago added my husbands Dad to the sign. So now it reads "In memory of our Dads, Lewis Watson and Martin Quinn. This year we are very sad to add our dear friend Mike Garay to the sign. He also passed with a glioma tumor in January 2017. So although we are sad to add his name.....we are proud that we can honor all 3 of these great men and remember them in a way that can help others. So this year please help my husband and I to raise money to help those still struggling and make their lives a little easier and happier. Thanks to all and thanks to the Celebrate Life Half Marathon for all the people it helps along the way.
