Jade entered my life and my heart in March 2013 as a Secondhand Hounds foster. A week after she arrived I felt a lump on her head behind her ear, it was cancer ☹️. Secondhand Hounds did everything possible to save her and it worked!!!! She was on bedrest (on my lap the entire time) with a cone for a couple weeks and the rest is history.... we were a TEAM!!!!
My son Reid said to me once “mom you need to adopt her, you’ll NEED her when I go to college”. He couldn’t have been more right! Just like the sentiment goes: “I didn’t save her, she saved me”. So when she got sick and passed over the rainbow bridge this winter it broke my heart more than I‘d ever imagine.
I miss her every day, so today I want to help give back to the organization that gave me my girl, and saved her from cancer when she was only 3 years old. They do amazing work. In memory of Jade I started this fundraiser, and I also finally got the courage today to sign up to foster again too.
Love and miss you Jade! This is for you, my special girl!
