Thanks for visiting my fundraising page for the 2020 Boston Marathon!
Running Boston has been a lifelong dream of mine and I'm super excited to have this opportunity and at the same time support a cause I've dedicated my career to!
The Boston Marathon is a special event for me. Many of you know my birthday is right around Marathon Monday and my Dad often took me to watch the marathon growing up, driving down from Nashua, NH. I drove into Boston from UMass Amherst during college to celebrate with friends, and now I actually get to run in it!
Although my career as a dermatologist is now at University of Colorado, I stuck around New England for much of my life. Residency was nearby in Burlington, VT at UVM and my internship and first job out of residency was at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. I'm trying to bring the efforts of IMPACT Melanoma out west with me to benefit the patients in this great area!
IMPACT Melanoma is a national non-profit organization dedicated to reducing the incidence of melanoma through education, prevention and support. IMPACT Melanoma offers a range of educational programs to spread awareness. These programs include Your Skin Is In, a program teaching high school, middle school and college students the importance of protecting their skin and the dangers of tanning; The Skinny On Skin, educating beauty professionals to recognize potential melanomas on the head, neck and scalp of their clients; Practice Safe Skin, providing free sunscreen to communities for their beaches, parks, sports fields and more; and Safe Skin at Work to create a workplace culture and policies that promote sun safety for outdoor workers. IMPACT Melanoma also offers support for patients and their caregivers through support groups and its one-on-one Billy's Buddies program. All of our programs are free! Team IMPACT is participating in the 2020 Boston Marathon to raise awareness about the importance of protecting your skin and raise funds to support its mission. Together we can make an IMPACT!
