It's been 17 years since I last ran a marathon, and am pretty nervous to do this, but with a bunch of other colleagues I'm running the Illinois Marathon and fundraising for the Immigration Project. The Immigration Project provides essential legal services for immigrants in Central Illinois-- and is committed to fighting back against the voices of hate and exclusion that have been so empowered in recent years.

While there are many legal resources for low income immigrants in the Chicago area, there is a huge need for quality immigration legal assistance in the rest of the state. The Immigration Project is the only nonprofit organization in downstate Illinois with immigration attorneys on staff. With two offices, 3 full time attorneys, and 4 Department of Justice accredited Representatives, we represent clients all across central and southern Illinois.
Especially in today's political environment, access to quality legal services is essential to keeping families united, building strong communities, and protecting victims of crime. We believe that immigrants are members of our community, and that helping all members of a community strengthens it as a whole.
