IGA Relief Group was started by Mike McKinney and myself, Trace Kendig. We have been friends for 35 years and have shared many great experiences over the years. When we saw the destruction caused by Hurricane Harvey we knew we had to try and help. We packed up a trailer with an ATV, extra diesel fuel and a bunch of water. We headed south to meet up with Triple G Relief Group out of McKinney, Texas. Triple G was feeding police officers, firefighters and other relief workers in Refugio Texas. Mike and I spent a few days helping out and saw the benefit of what Triple G was doing. During our long drive back to Iowa we hatched a plan to begin our own relief group in Iowa. We plan to begin by feeding those who are helping those in need. The picture above is of Mike building our smoker. As IGA grows we want to be able to feed all those in need when a disaster strikes. IGA is set up as a non-profit with the Iowa Secretary of State. IGA is also a 501(c)(3) with the IRS. We welcome any donations to help us get started providing relief to those affected by tragedy and disaster.
IGA stands for Intercede, Give and Assist. We will respond to tragedy and natural disasters within 200 miles of the Des Moines Iowa area. The mission of IGA is to provide hot meals to Police Officers, Firefighters and EMS personnel that will be at these scenes helping restore people's lives and homes. This charity is 501(c)(3) and is completely lean. All donations will go to the mission.
