The L’Unione Italiana Cemetery is filled with a rich, cultural history unlike any other, with hundreds of visitors to the property each year. For decades, our Veterans Memorial Rotunda, located along the southern edge of the property, has stood to honor the countless men and women who have served our country since its construction in 1949. Dedicated under past president and long-time club member, Paolo Pupello Longo, the rotunda, stands “to honor and perpetuate the memory of those members who gave their life for their country”.
Today, through a gracious donation by Nick Muley & Family, we embark on a Matching Donation Campaign to make much needed repairs, improvements, and long-term preservation to our aging Veterans Memorial Rotunda. The Muley Family, has graciously donated $5,000 in memory of Catherine Ficcio Muley, and we have agreed to match this donation through this grassroots, community driven fundraiser. It is our goal, to ensure that through this campaign, we provide for both the immediate and long-term preservation of Veterans Memorial Rotunda. As our veterans braved each day, our Veterans Memorial Rotunda stands to quietly honor their courage, dedication, their gallantry – but most importantly, as a reminder of their selfless commitment to protect the values of our nation.
"We remember those who were called upon to give all a person can give, and we remember those who were prepared to make that sacrifice if it were demanded of them in the line of duty, though it never was. Most of all, we remember the devotion and gallantry with which all of them ennobled their nation as they became champions of a noble cause." -- Ronald Reagan
