I'm Brett. I'm 23 and I have had PMDD for half my life, diagnosed only 2 years ago.
When I was 12 and began experiencing extreme depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts, my parents and I had no clue what was wrong or what to do. If they could have willed my pain away with LOVE, or even MONEY (spent on therapies, doctors, medications....), they would have, in fact they tried. But that's not how these things work... Though my symptoms were held at bay for some parts of my teenage years, they clung tight when I went off to college, and got worse. I took a semester at home because I could not cope on my own.
It's there that LUCK led my mom to find a local functional medicine doctor who listened to me, diagnosed me with PMDD, and immediately began a cutting-edge treatment that saved my life and led me on the path to create Me v PMDD and work with IAPMD, who I'm raising money for today.
Now, I manage my PMDD well with medications, supplements, and therapy. It's not easy, I still feel broken sometimes, but it is so much better than before.
One of the best parts of my post-diagnosis life is being able to support other women with PMDD as a Peer Support Provider with IAPMD. We offer free one-to-one support sessions to anyone who reaches out from any part of the world. Some women are experiencing severe suicidal ideation, some have tried every treatment under the sun and nothing has helped, others feel that no one in their life understands the pain, but we do. We've been there too and we help these women, our peers, our PMDD sisters, make it through to the next day, to the next doctor, to the next treatment that will one day help them live more than a half-life again. It's an invaluable service that I know my parents, or me, would have found online had it been there when this was all starting for me over a decade ago. I was 10 years too early. But it's not too late for the women and girl I support every day. I can save other women and girls from the 10 years I 'lost.'
And you can save them too.
Please consider donating to my fundraiser for IAPMD, because every single dollar makes a beautiful difference in the lives of women, like me, living with PMDD.
***If you make a donation of any amount before December 28th, I'll enter you into a random drawing for a $25 Amazon gift card, I'll send to the winner via email. A LUCKY gift of MONEY to show you my LOVE.
